The 45th Concours Returns This August 11th & 12th , 2017

For 44 years the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance has showcased the most well-known and historic classic boats in the world.  The show, presented by the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, exists to benefit a variety of Lake Tahoe maritime non-profit groups. Over the past four decades the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance has grown into the most recognized and most prestigious boat show in North America.  Each year a “Marque Class” is selected by a panel of nationally recognized classic boat experts and judges.  Each individual Marque Class is designed to bring a unique element and theme to the show.  Whether it’s a symbolic anniversary, a celebration of a specific collector, or the honoring of a specific style or manufacturer, each Marque Class ensures boating enthusiasts a new educational and viewing experience year after year.

This August 11th-12th, the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance celebrates its 45th anniversary by featuring another outstanding Marque Class, the world’s best antique and classic Utility boats from various manufactures. First introduced after the Great Depression in the early 1930s, utility boats overtook runabouts in popularity after World War II.  They are what most of us recognize today as the most common recreational boat on the water.  These boats are a jack of all trades to enjoy a complete day on the water.  Utility boats are ideal for fishing and fast enough for water skiing.  The open concept was perfect for piling in family and friends.  What defines a Utility? It must have one or both of two defining characteristics: An engine box in place of hatches and/or the absence of defined cockpits.

2017 will mark the fourth consecutive year the Lake Tahoe Concours will be hosted at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company on the west shore of Lake Tahoe in the heart of Homewood, California.   Obexer’s Boat Company offer Concours-goers a wide open landscape view of Lake Tahoe, casual vendor shopping, and a true historic marina experience.
