Reno_river_LOGO_415The Reno River Festival returns with a splash to kickoff Northern Nevada’s event season Mother’s Day weekend, May 12 – 14th.  Last year, the River Festival went on despite record low water flow, and the River Festival fans responded with record high attendance.  This year, winter returned with a vengeance and so will the Reno River Festival.  With a promising outlook on water levels, the signature white water events will be back in downtown Reno and which host the world’s top ranked whitewater athletes.

As of the beginning of January, the snowpack for the Truckee Basin is at 102-percent above normal. The National Weather Service says the odds our in our favor for more precipitation in the next three months.

The whitewater competitions are only part of what makes the Reno River Festival, well a festival. Last year, Liquid Blue Events purchased the Reno River Festibeer_village_linkval with a goal to not only enhance the event, but to bring at least one major addition to Northern Nevada’s signature event each year. Liquid Blue Event’s vision is to create a river park event that engages the festival goer on everything that is an outdoor summer experience. In the first year, Liquid Blue Events separated the event into villages, built private VIP cabanas and added an extremely popular Craft Beer Village. In it’s inaugural year, the Craft Beer Village featured more than three dozen craft beers and hosted more than 1,500 guests over the two day event.  Tickets for the 2016 Craft Beer Village are currently on sale featuring early bird prizes and incentives.

2016’s new addition will become a Reno River Festival signature event. The Reno River Roll will celebrate everything that is bicycle!  This casual 5-mile costumed slow ride will start at the on the brand new Virginia Street Bridge and finish in the heart of the Reno River Festival.  Tour the streets of Reno on your best ride while trailing a live mobile band that will lead an experience unlike any bike ride you’ve been on before.  The Reno River Roll is open to all ages.  For more information, click on the Reno River Roll link above or just get in now.  Space is limited, the thrill is not.  Bring not only your bike, but if you donate a bike to kids in need at our donation booth, you will receive a free inaugural Reno River Roll t-shirt, water bottle and nap sack.

Summer is synonymous with music and so is the Reno River Festival. The music festival portion will soon become one of the event’s most anticipated announcements. In recent years, the lineup has featured more up and coming and established national recording artists. The festival was headlined by RCA’s Old Dominion in 2014 and BMG’s Clare Dunn in 2015. Both artists have multiple top 10 country music hits. The Reno River Festival is currently working on a 2016 lineup that will be the biggest and best yet.
